Yeah, you read that right, in an interview with the NY Daily News this week while doing promotional rounds for The Martian, celebrity superstar and Jason Bourne alum, Matt Damon, let slip that if he had the opportunity to do a comic book film adaptation, his first choice would be Daredevil.
Obviously that ship has mostly sailed given the 2003 dudbuster staring his good buddy Ben Affleck (currently of Batfleck fame) and the currently excellent version of the show now on Netflix, starring Charlie Cox.
But still, according to Matt Damon, “That’s the comic we read when we were kids, but when that one came along I chickened out, because I couldn’t tell. I hadn’t seen the director (Mark Steven Johnson’s) work and I didn’t know. So I just said, ‘No.’ Ben was like, ‘I gotta do it, “and he further quipped that, “the movie ended up doing very well, even though I don’t think Ben was ultimately very proud of it.”
Well, that makes sense, although according to Damon, there is one scenario in which he’d still commit, no questions asked. In his interview, he explained that, “If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in.”
Well duh, Matt. Who freakin’ wouldn’t?!
But what do you think? Would Damon out do his buddy Bruce Wayne in a film adaptation of Daredevil or is it best left to the man on fire, Charlie Cox? Let us know what you think about it in the comments section below.
