The Flash Adds a New Firestorm for Season 2

The new trailer for The Flash season 2 dropped today and with it we’re introduced to a new, yet familiar character in the form of Firestorm.

We were introduced to Firestorm in the first season portrayed by actors Robbie Amell and Victor Garber, yet the new Firestorm, portrayed by Franz Drameh, appears to bring something new to the table. Legends of Tomorrow producer, Phil Klemmer, told Comicbook.com that this new Firestorm, who goes by the name of Jay Jackson, is, “probably the last person Professor Stein (Victor Garber) wants to share Firestorm with.”

Firestrom is a character created when two characters fuse together using the Firestorm Matrix, which was initially demonstrated in the show when characters Ronnie Raymond and Professor Victor Stein were fused leaving the body of Ronnie under the quasi control of Steins mind. The two were internally at odds, but ultimately learned to work together to control Firestorm.

We don’t know a lot about Jackson’s half of the character or where Ronnie Raymond is going to disappear to, but we do know that Jackson will be some sort of ex-high school athlete and could potentially be from somewhere else in the multiverse as that seems to be one of the big themes this season. Our guess though is that he’s going to serve as a replacement to Amell’s Ronnie Raymond in both The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow.
