Well folks, it looks like the cats out of the bag, or maybe in this case, Zuul’s been let out of hell. Taking to Twitter today, director Paul Feig has in fact confirmed that original Ghostbusters star, Sigourney Weaver, will be joining the cast of his upcoming reboot.
This of course brings the total of reoccurring cast members up to 5 including Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Akroyd, Annie Potts, and now of course Sigourney Weaver. The only two obvious people missing from the film include Harold Ramis, who passed away early last year, and long since retired actor, Rick Moranis, who largely removed himself from Hollywood after the death of his wife.
Feig confirmed the casting in a Tweet, in which he explains, “Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I’ll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!”
Even though she’ll only likely show up in a cameo capacity, very much like we expect all of the returning cast to do, it’s sort of an unofficial show of support for the reboot which has garnered a bit of mixed reaction from fans.
The new Ghostbusters is set to release on July 15th, 2016 and will feature Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, Chris Hemsworth, Neil Casey and Andy García.
