For those of you who are fans of good old fashioned classic children’s sci-fi novel adaptations, you might be excited to learn that sexy-man-Hollywood himself, Chris Pine, has been added to upcoming cast of Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time. Pine is joining an already high profile roster containing the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling and will be directed by Ava DuVernay (Selma).
The film will be based on the first installment of Madeleine L’Engle’s young adult series of the same name. A Wrinkle in Time tells the story of a young girl, Meg (Storm Reid) and her siblings as they set out on an adventure across the universe in search of their missing father with the help of Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which (Witherspoon, Kaling, and Winfrey respectively).
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Pine has signed on to play the father, Mr. Murry. The script comes courtesy of Frozen co-writer, Jennifer Lee, and production is expected to start later this year.
