In more news from the George Miller’s Mad Max camp, it sounds as though those two additional Mad Max sequels we talked about last week, will likely feature a lot less of Charlize Theron’s popular, Imperator Furiosa.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Miller was asked about the reappearance of Furiosa, he explained, “I’m not sure, is the answer. She’s not in the Mad Max [sequel] story, but in one of the stories there’s an interaction between [Max and Furiosa]. I can’t really say more than that because it’s still in progress.”
While that’s a sad bit of information, our hopes for Furiosa expand beyond the Mad Max series anyway. Really, we’d much rather see her lead her own story while Max continues on Road Warrioring away as he’s traditionally done.
Miller was also asked about several other movie rumors, including the one claiming that the feral kid from the Road Warrior grows up to become Tom Hardy’s, Mad Max. Miller explains, “Not in my mind, because at the end of Mad Max 2, the feral kids says ‘In time I become the leader of the Great Northern Tribe and the Road Warrior exists now only in my memory’. Now, somebody said, that yes, but in the mean time, before he grew up, he could’ve become the other Mad Max, but in my mind, that’s not the case.”
Miller continues, “You know, allegorical stories like Mad Max; Fury Road, are in the eyes of the beholder and as Freddie Mercury said to somebody who was trying to interpret one of his songs, he said, “if you see a dear, then it’s there.”
Well, there you have it, Furiosa and Max won’t likely come into too much more contact and in Miller’s mind, Max is not the feral kid. So what do you think? Will you be sad to not see Furiosa return to the series or should she get her own? Is Max the feral kid or is his just plain old Max. As always, let us know what you think in the comments section below!
