Newly Unreleased Nightmare on Elm Street Cut Scene Sheds New Light on Characters

Okay, first of all, this ‘new’ cut scene isn’t exactly ‘new’ in the most strict sense. It was actually posted to YouTube back in 2010, but only recently has it picked up any traction. Why? We’re not entirely sure, but this cut scene definitely adds a new dimension to the Nightmare saga and brings to light some previously unknown character motivations.

Allegedly this clip, which was not included with any of the special anthology box sets, was originally included as a special feature on old Laserdisk special edition of the film. Since then, however, it’s gone on to be largely forgotten by time; expect of course for one very forward thinking YouTuber.

The cut scene comes from the big reveal in which Nancy’s (Heather Langenkamp) mother (Ronee Blakley) explains the history of Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) and how the parents of Elm Street banded together to take care of the child murder once the law failed. While we already knew all of that, what we didn’t know is that some of the kids found ruthlessly slaughtered where a little closer to home than had originally been led on. In fact, you find out that Glen (Johnny Depp), Tina (Amanda Wyss), Rod (Jsu Garcia), and even Nancy herself once had siblings that had fallen victim to Krueger.

This actually paints a more interesting picture of Nancy’s mother in regard to her consistent substance abuse issues throughout the movie, but if you haven’t seen the clip yet, I’d highly suggest you take a look as it’ll likely put the whole movie into a brand new context for you which is always fun!
