Darth Maul: Apprentice; A Fan Film Worthy of a Watch

When it comes to short fan films on YouTube, there’s certainly no shortage, but every once in a while one comes along that just feels like it should be part of a larger canon. The new Darth Maul: Apprentice by T7pro is a perfect example as it takes viewers though an action packed mission that sees the Sith apprentice complete his training at the hands of the legendary, Darth Sidious, by mowing through a group of young Jedi Knights.

This film is a perfect depiction of Maul’s ability and his overarching threat to the Jedi Order which sets itself as a perfect short film precursor to the events of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. In fact, we would argue that the portrayal of Darth Maul in this film is treated with a greater magnitude than Episode I ever bothered to muster. While the character has gone on to become a fan favorite, especially after his resurrection in The Clone Wars, his film presence was always short lived although he represented some of the few redeemable aspects of the first installment of the prequel series.

For all of you Star Wars fans out there, I highly recommend giving this a watch. If anything, it offers some pretty well executed light saber work and sophisticated fight choreography so give it ago and let me know what you think in the comments section below! Currently it has just over 500,000 views, but I expect that number to sore throughout the course of the week.
