Marvel’s ‘Thor; Ragnarok’ Gets a Director

In the latest bout of Marvel related news, it would appear that Thor; Ragnarok has finally found it’s director. As it turns out, Taika Waititi, will be taking the lead on the film which is an interesting pick given the directors history.

Waititi is probably best known for his work as the director for the HBO comedy, Flight of the Concords, as well as his newest vampire comedy, What We Do in the Shadows. Other directors considered for the role include Ruben Fleischer, Rob Letterman, and Rawson Marshall Thurber.

Marvel definitely has an interesting way of going about picking their directors, but we’re all left wondering what it is that qualified Waititi for the position, especially since he has no experience with major block busters. Then again, neither did the Russo Brothers and look what they went and did with Winter Soldier.

We’re not about to second guess Marvel given their track record of making pretty great film adaptations of their properties, but what do you think, is Waititi the man for the job? Will he encapsulate the immensity of what Ragnarok should be? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
