Marvel Comics to do Sequel to ‘Civil War’

Has Marvel gone and nonchalantly announced a sequel run of comics to their popular Civil War? The original comic debuted in 2006 that put Captain America and his secret team of  Avengers against Tony Stark’s Iron Man and the rest of the United States government. If this is true, Marvel has the second part slated to come out in 2016.

This rumor stems from a Tweet that was posted a bit earlier today with an image from one Ryan Higgins, owner of California’s Comics Conspiracy and co-host of The Geekbox and The Comic Conspiracy podcast.

The postcard appears to show Iron Man going mono e mono with Sam Wilson’s Captain America. The Roman number “II” appears on the back of the card using the same font from the original Civil War story line with a tag that reads, “Spring 2016.”

If this is true, that would put the launch of the new comic run right at the same time the MCU version of Captain America: Civil War comes out in theaters.

The original Civil War story line came to an abrupt end with the death of Captain America and the rapid onset of Marvel’s Secret Invasion, so the while the story manged to progress past the issues presented, the story itself was never fully resolved.

Civil War was also revisited earlier this year as part of the Secret Wars story line which saw the events of the original arc after they had carried on for 6 years in an alternate reality known as Battleworld.

So what do you think, do you want to see Wilson’s Cap take up arms against Iron Man or is this treading into redundancy territory? As always, let us know what you think in the comments section below.
