With a fury of casting announcements coming out recently in regard to the live action adaptation of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, we recently learned that Mad Max: Fury Road co-star, Abbey Lee, has joined in the negotiations.
We had previously learned that Matthew McConaughey signed on to play the evil Man in Black with Idris Elba stepping into the role of gunslinger, Roland Deschain. It was also announced that Nikolaj Arcel is set to direct who is best known as the screenwriter for the 2009 Swedish adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and for directing, A Royal Affair, staring Hannibal lead, Mads Mikkelsen.
Abbey Lee is currently starring in God’s of Egypt alongside Gerard Butler and has also appeared in a small handful of other roles. If she lands the Dark Tower casting, she’ll be set to star opposite of Idris Elba as the female lead, Tirana.
Reportedly, in the Dark Tower series the role of Tirana is a relatively small part that isn’t introduced until the series 7th installment, but this could be the first big insight as to how they plan on adapting the film for the big screen. Currently those familiar with the series are trying to figure out exactly how she’ll fit in alongside Elba’s, Deschain.
So are you excited about all of this casting news or are you on the fences? Rumors had been swirling for sometime in regard to the casting of Ebla and McConaughey, but not that things are officially in place, are you excited?
