Have You Taken a Tour of the Enterprise D Yet?

Haven’t you ever just wanted to be able to walk around and take a tour of Star Trek’s Enterprise-D, from The Next Generation?

Obviously you answered ‘yes’ to that question, otherwise, why would you be here? Well don’t worry, we’ve got some great news for you. A group calling themselves the Enterprise Construction Project is working on developing a full model of the iconic galaxy class star-ship using the Unreal 4 engine in order to give everyone the experience of walking in the footsteps of the great Jean Luc Picard.

Currently they’re seeking funding to help assist them in the project, which you can find information on in the link above, but for the time being, they’ve released a 12 minute long YouTube video that demonstrates what the preliminary walk through will look like.

They’re currently using several blueprint sources of the Enterprise to make the walk through as realistic as possible, yet they’re careful to note that this is a pre-alpha, work in progress version of the final project, so if things aren’t quite the way you remember them to be, don’t sweat it, hopefully it will all get flushed out by the final version. Some of the things we noticed include a shuttle bay that looks unlike any of the ones we ever saw on the show, however, its completely feasable that it still existed. Also, the legendary Ten Forward lounge, where we were often treated to scenes of Guinan working her magic on the ships crew, looks a lot smaller than it does on the show, but again, we’re really excited to see what the final project looks like because walking the Enterprise is basically every nerds dream.

Are you excited? Let us know what you think about the ability to virtually be on the Enterprise in the comments section below.
