With the recent announcement of three upcoming and as of yet unnamed Marvel movies, there’s been a lot of talk about what those could inevitably wind up being.
There are definitely a handful of pretty obvious choices, but then again, Marvel doesn’t always go with the obvious as they’ve proven with Guardians of the Galaxy, Ant-Man, and the Inhumans. Will their new films turn out to be sequels to existing properties or will they diversify and add more characters into their ever expanding universe? Will they give characters that have only been co-stars a chance to shine or will they come out of left field with something completely new?
Really, we won’t know until we know, but we’ve gone ahead and compiled a list of ideas ranging from the incredibly obvious, if not likely, to a few more obscure ideas that could be really fun to see. While we fully recognize that some of these are unlikely or seem impossible, we’ve learned to say that nothing is impossible when it comes to the world of the MCU.
Let us know what you think of our picks in the comments section below or give us a heads up if there’s something that you’d really like to see.
Guardians Of The Galaxy 3
Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is basically a foregone conclusion. This will almost certainly be one of the upcoming films, although maybe it's a little too obvious...
We would love to see the continued growth of the cosmic universe, so we say bring it on!
Black Panther 2
We wouldn't be the slighted bit surprised to see a sequel for the legendary Wakandan warrior. There are a lot of places his story can go and we'd like to see them all.
The Spider-Man sequel is another one that seems pretty likely given the popularity of the character and they've made it pretty clear that there would be numerous films featuring this new take on our favorite web-slinger. There are a lot of un-movitized Spider-Man stories, so there's still plenty of room to continue on with Spidey.
Dr Strange 2
A Dr. Strange sequel also seems fairly likely. People are already super jazzed about the casting and the potential weirdness of the first film, so slating that now might not be a bad idea. More magic please!
Captain Marvel 2
A Captain Marvel sequel also seems like a pretty real possibility. While we haven't seen the character in live action yet, nor have the announced an actor for the role, hype has been pretty big. Again, this one seems like one of the frontrunners for the real deal as should could be integral in the Marvel films moving on into phase 4.
The idea of finally getting a solid Black Widow solo movie is always appealing. We'd love to see her finally get her due as solid lead role, perhaps in a Die Hard style format?
Could it be possible to get an actual Hulk solo movie? Probably not given certain other studios involvements, but a Planet Hulk movie would be pretty fun!
The Inhumans 2
While there are a bunch of rumors suggesting that Marvel is going to cancel the 1st Inhumans movie, we highly doubt it, so a follow up wouldn't be out of the question. The only issue is that this would come out less than a year from the 1st movie making it pretty unlikely that any of these spots would be reserved for it's sequel.
Ant Man 3
A third installment of the Ant Man franchise could very feasibly happen, especially now that they're officially bringing the Wasp into the fold. Could we get to see Giant Man?
Iron Man 4
Iron Man 4 could be a very real thing as it could help to weave RDJ's Tony Stark out of the universe for good.
Captain America 4
While we're hot on the heels of Captain America; Civil War, the third installment of Cap's solo franchise, it wouldn't be unreasonable to see a 4th film that also helps to round out his story in the MCU making way for a potential new Captain America down the road.
Before Guardians 3 could we potentially get an Adam Warlock movie? This could be a great setup to having Warlock actually join the Guardians team. You could even get The Vision in on this film. While a fun idea, we're guessing that this isn't super likely. We also love the idea of Marvel rounding out their cosmic universe a bit.
We've already seen the Nova Corp show up in Guardians of the Galaxy, but could we get a proper movie featuring the titular cosmic hero? Just like the Adam Warlock movie, this could help expand the cosmic portion of the universe, which would be amazing.
Before you explode into a nerd rage, let me tell you that we do know FULL WELL, that this is currently set to show up on Netflix, but what if instead, they pushed it to the big screen. This could free up time for other Netflix shows like the rumored Punisher, Ghost Rider, or Blade shows. Just think about it...
The Winter Soldier
A Winter Soldier solo film could be extremely interesting, especially if it was a Winter Solider/Black Widow duo movie kind of like Captain American; The Winter Soldier was. In the comics, Bucky and Widow have some great story arcs which could work well in movie form. As much as we might like to see this movie though, given our affinity to the character of the Winter Soldier, we're guessing that this is a highly unlikely option.
